Autumn Lookbook | HOMME 2014

So it’s a bit late into the season, but as the saying goes, never late than never. The Femme half of the lookbook was received pretty well so now here is the Homme half, you can watch the video above and read the commentary in this blog.

얼짱 점! (Ulzzang Point!) Episode 1: Eye Highlights

Welcome to the pilot episode of 얼짱 점! (Ulzzang Point!), a new web-series designed to teach people what Ulzzang is and how to do the popular Korean make-up style. This episode is all about teaching people how to highlight the inner corners of their eyes in a way that’s natural and subtle but still has the desired effect of enlarging the eyes.

[Haul] A Week of Findings (Part 2) :: All Things Cute & Tasty

Recently we did a post about some things we bought during our first week in South Korea, and also a review of a product we loved from Nature Republic, a big cosmetics & beauty brand in Korea. This time we’ll be writing part two of our findings! 

:: Korean Food ::

For anyone going to Korea, one thing you always look forward to is walking around during the late evening, surrounded by the shining signs and blaring music pouring out of the shops all around, and stopping at a little tent stall to munch on some street food! 

Well, let us tell you, Korea does not disappoint! Whether it’s a small local market or a huge shopping district, there are stalls everywhere selling all sorts. Some of our personal favourites so far are Ddeokbokki (떡볶이), Fried Dumplings (금만두) and these yummy chicken skewers - of which the stall owner gave us a free one since we’re Christians. #UnexpectedPerks

[Review] Nature Republic’s Natural Fermentation Argan Foam Cleanser

My Rating: ★★★★★ + High Recommendation 

After the (personal) disappointment that came with the Argan Oil hair craze I became really skeptical about Argan Oil products, and was convinced they were all just over-hyped. While I may still not like hair products, this cleanser has got me believing in Argan Oil again.

Since we were saving for our trip to Korea we haven’t be able to shop all summer, so of course when we got here the first thing we needed to get was some retail therapy XD We’ve been here for exactly a week now and here are just some of the things that we’ve got our hands on already! 

:: Nature Republic Mini-Haul ::

If you follow our Facebook page, you would have seen our little teaser about our spend at Nature Republic early in the week. Actually, though we know the names of many, we’re not actually familiar with products from most Korean skincare or cosmetic brands. It just seemed like too much effort to order things from across the world without knowing if they were any good or not. 

Personal Update:: Back at Full Power!

Though we really wanted to make the most of this summer, unfortunately life was no so kind with our laptop breaking (twice) coupled with a bunch of other problems and then us ultimately moving to the other side of the planet… but, fortunately that’s all over and done with now!

About a week ago we moved to South Korea and we’re almost settled, we’ve also managed to get a new laptop and camera lens (still need a tripod though ;;) and we’re moving into our new place on Sunday, which means, the Han Siblings will be back at full power as of September 1st! That also means that our blog will now be fully active again and so will our YouTube channel (which we seemingly abandoned ;;)

Though we did have a lot of videos and blog posts planned for the summer, unfortunately because we didn’t have a laptop most of those fell through and will be postponed, probably until next year. However, we’ve got a whole bunch of new and exciting blogs and videos planned for this Monday on-wards, for dansou, ulzzang, and culture-lovers alike. We’re trying to get in a whole array of things for you guys to enjoy so look forward to it! 

Anyway, we won’t bore you any longer, but just a quick post to say, we’re back!! 

A Different Perspective on Sun Damage

This year when summer rolled around we switched all our facial creams products to stuff with high SPFs because we learnt a lot about how the sun can damage your skin in more ways than tanning, sunburn and skin cancer.

I think this video does a great job in illustrating just how important/useful sunscreen can be; it stops dark spots, unwanted freckles, wrinkles, other signs of ageing and much more; all in all, it keeps your skin healthy.

Maybe after watching this you might think twice about going out without any protection.

[Haul] Doing Something Different

Since we’ve been saving for our trip, recently we haven’t had any spare cash to spend on shopping, but a couple of days ago I got my deposit back from my university accommodation, so of course the first thing I did was blow most of it in store! Actually, I went with the intention of getting just a cheap pair of heels (which I need desperately) but although I didn’t get those, I did get a few other things and even stepped out of our comfort zone. 

The first few things I got were actually also things I needed desperately and that would be these two wonderful lip lacquers and this gorgeous make-up case! Until now we’ve been keeping our complete make-up collection stuffed into a little bag and honestly it’s been a pain trying to find anything in there, especially when you’re in a rush. Also, I have next to no lip makeup so I was dying for some good ones, and fortunately I got these two gorgeous lip lacquers, they go on like a gloss but even after the gloss fades the colour still remains like a tint.

[SPAZZ] The Han Siblings are going to South Korea!

Some of you may already know, but we major in Korean Language (and business management) in University, and as part of our course we have a compulsory year abroad in South Korea!  

As of this August 22nd, we’ll be living and breathing Korean lifestyle, but we don’t want this to just be an awesome opportunity for us, but for you guys too! 

We’ve had an interest in Asian culture for a long time (8 years to be exact,) but we’ve never had the chance to visit Asia because it wasn’t financially possible for our family, however now the opportunity has been opened up to us, and we want to share this opportunity with any of you who might be stuck in similar situations.

Transparent/mesh clothing have been in fashion this summer and it’s a trend that I’m completely in love with, so I recently got my hands on this mesh crop top, and this is the coordi I put together. (I think this also counts as motivation to start working out again and get my abs back!)

I think most of my inspiration came from pictures I’ve seen on tumblr and standard Korean Summer fashion.

While I was at Uni I met this one lovely Korean girl name Ha Jeong, and I’m pretty sure I spend the entire time I was talking to her staring at her face because I absolutely loved her eye make up!

I think it was the tiny pop of colour amongst the otherwise dark/plain make up that caught my attention; I usually don’t like wearing bright colours, clothing nor make-up but I really wanted to try and expand my horizons in the future, and I think this make is a nice way to do it since I can easily swap the pink for any colour I want. 

Hopefully in future I’d show you guys some more colourful make.

[Haul] Sun Protection, Nail Polish & Budget Brushes!

I should be saving up for something big happening this summer, but it seems every time I go out I have to buy cosmetics! In fairness, I did go looking for some sun protection, but I really need to learn to control my impulse buying >_>…

Recently I’ve been reading a lot on skin care and sun damage and I’ve come to a stark realisation: THE SUN IS GOING TO KILL US ALL ;O; Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but the sun does more than just causing tanning, sun burn and skin cancer. Too much sun exposure can lead to sun bleaching of the skin, causing uneven complexion and skin tone, a problem I personally deal with and absolutely hate. On top of that, it speeds up the loosening of the skin causing premature wrinkles, sagging, an increase in blackheads and a many other unpleasant things. 

Long story short, I went out to get some high SPF products and I came back with these two bad boys: 

Since the seasons are getting hotter recently, I’ve been trying to cut down layers to avoid my make-up melting and for this reason I wanted a moisturiser with a high SPF built in, rather than a sun screen to put on top. So when I saw this moisturiser with SPF 30 from my favourite facial skin care brand, Simple, I didn’t hesitate to buy it. 

Personal Update:: All Sorts Of Random Stuff

We’re back guys! 

We know we said we’d only be gone for a day but school and stress and life hit us hard this week so we decided to take a little break ;o; Anyway, this post is just going to be a short and sweet update on what’s going on with us at the moment and in the near future~ 

Firstly, FINALS ;o; for those who don’t know, we’re in our first year of university (studying Korean Studies and Business Management) and our finals start on Friday, fortunately we only have two exams so they end of Tuesday next week and then we’re freeeeeeeeeee… kinda xD 

ALSO, BIG NEWS GUYS. ☆★☆ WE’RE GOING TO SOUTH KOREA ☆★☆ FOR A WHOLE YEAR AT THE END OF THIS AUGUST!!!! <—- dream come true tbh OTL 

But we’re not going to be telling you too much about that until closer to the time, so keep an eye out~ ;3 All we want you to know for now is that even after exams, we’re going to be pretty busy with preparing for that so updates (in terms of original posts and videos) are going to be slow for a while~ 

Apart from that, our health ;o; as ever, we are ill again OTL but hopefully we’ll be getting a full check up this summer before our trip so don’t worry~ we can still move and do stuff XD 

But all that aside, we have a LOT of stuff planned for you guys, so as long as the weather cooperates, our health stays stable enough for us to do things and our timetable doesn’t get too hectic, look forward to it! ^^

Finally back in dansou <3 I left my binder at university during the whole Easter break and I’ve had so many deadlines since I got back that I hadn’t had a chance to man up, but I did my laundry last weekend so I made sure to dress up today. I went for an all black outfit since, well, I’d only done my black laundry XD

My mum was graduating from some sort of ministry/bible study course at church so we (the family) all came to attend the graduation ceremony after the service - she said she was happy we all came since she never attended her university graduation ceremony (XD) 

To match the occasion, I went for a more sophisticated look with the white blouse and very minimal accessories; I also think that the ‘old-woman-church-hat’ as I call it, and the clutch added a bit of maturity to the look too. I was actually told at numerous points during the day that I looked more mature, so I think I pulled it off. The only down side is that these shoes are new (and too big) so I had blisters by the time I got home T^T

This outfit was actually inspired by a very similar look I’d seen on a lot of Korean celebrities and always wanted to try.

I mentioned before that the skincare is an important part of being an Ulzzang, so I’m going to share with you my personal skincare routine; it’s very simple and not too expensive, and I think it’s great for lots of different skin types so I’d definitely recommend it to everyone (that includes you dansou-ers too!) 『直っちと一緒の素晴らしい１０日！』:: My Wonderful 10 Days With Nao’cchi!

While I was away on hiatus recovering my health, I also had the awesome pleasure of having Naoki, one of the admin’s of BOKUTACHI, the latter half of the infamous ship HanNao and moreover, a close friend of mine, come down from the Netherlands and spend a wonderful, fun-filled ten days with me!

On some days we were super lazy and spent hours watching back to back episodes of Kuroko no Basuke and My Love From Another Star, and on others we were super… ‘productive’? Well, we went to school, did some shopping and we even found a cool store to share with you guys! If you’re interested, why not read on and find out all we did this last week.

Arrival::

Naoki arrived in Manchester airport at 10am on Friday 28th February, which meant that I had to get up about 4 hours beforehand to give my room a last minute clean, get ready and get to the airport. But it was all worth the effort because we were laughing and joking from the second that he arrived and we were out of the terminal (this is the first time we’ve met in person.) After the /very/ expensive train ride home - OTL my wallet - we both stripped (not all the way you dirty—), crashed down in my bed and chatted for a while. 

By ‘a while’ I mean about a couple of days but because our stomachs got the better of us and we had to get up and go food shopping - I hardly eat cause I’m a poor university student, so my cupboards are usually bare if I don’t have a guest… Having previously striped down, we had to dress up again, but being the lazy buggers that we are, we weren’t up for completely dressing up again which helped us invent this wonderful thing: 

Conbini Fashion! ::

NB: This is word play on the Japanese word ‘conbini’ meaning ‘convenience store’ taken from the English word ‘convenient’; likewise ‘conbini fashion’ would mean ‘convenient fashion.’ Thus ‘convenient fashion for the convenience store!’ *laughs for ten years at our really bad joke* 

Personal Update:: The Bad, The Good & The Hiatus

Usually I don’t write blog posts about my personal life but recently a lot of stuff has occurred that I thought about sharing with you guys.
