Dubai Haul || Sephora, Duty Free, New Yorker & More!

As those of you who follow us on SNS already know, this Christmas holiday we went to Dubai with our family on a short but fun packed family holiday. Of course when travelling, shopping is always on the to do list and our mum was kind enough to give us some spending money which Hanzel kindly gave to me since he isn't very big on shopping <3

I'm already planning a couple of haul videos revolving around my Otome clothes haul and the Colour Pop haul video that I promised you guys coming in the new year, and I didn't want to bombard you with another haul video, so instead I'm writing this post. I bought quite a bit so I tried not to go into too much detail but still give you a brief idea into why I bought them~

『「乙女系」というのは?』 What is Otome-kei?

Previously I've introduced you to underrated/unknown (life)styles like Mori and MODE-kei, as well as lesser understood ones such as Dansou, but this time I'm going to be passing the spotlight to a predecessor style that even most of its Lolita descendants have never heard of!

My Fashion Identity? || November Epiphany

TL;DR: I've been thinking a lot about my style, in regards to: what I wear and why I wear it, and also what I'd like to wear but have never tried. After a series of events, discoveries, and a lot of personal evaluation, I've decided to expand my style and try the styles I've always dreamed about rather than restricting myself to one look. In this post, I basically want to tell you a bit about where I found my inspiration (and hopefully you can to!) as well as some info on the new 'style identity' and the styles I'm going to be challenging: Lolita, Otome and Mori!

I put the tl;dr at the start of this post because it's most likely going to be a long one, and if you can't be bothered to read that, then at least watch this short video explaining (very badly) what I'm going to be talking about:

Now that that's said and done, I've broken all the information up into questions to make it easier for you to find whatever you're interested in, so read on to have all of your questions answered! ^^

HYPER JAPAN Christmas Market Mini-Haul || Dreamy Bows & Minori Fan Merch

As you probably already know from my last post, I visited an event called Hyper Japan last week, and one of my main objectives was to buy a few things for my start in something new and exciting - I'm not going to tell you what just yet, but I'm sure you'll get a hint or two in this post!

Admittedly my main objective was to buy clothing  HUGE HINT ALERT  but unfortunately I didn't quite come across what I was looking for, however I was lucky enough to come across some cute accessories instead.

[SPAZZ] I Met Shironuri Artist, Minori! (Fan Account)

Wheeeeerrrrrrrreeeeeeeeee ddddoooooooo IIIIIIIIII bbbbeeeeeeeeggggiiiiiinnnnn?
Disclaimer: This being a fan account, means there will be copious amount of fangirling, if you can't handle it, then I suggest you don't read for the sake of your own sanity~
Last Friday I attended an event called HYPER JAPAN Christmas Market, which is a Japanese cultural event in central London. One of the main reasons I went to this event was to get a chance to meet a fashion celebrity I have been following for years now, and that would be Shironuri Artist, Minori!

Minori is a prime example of how one can transcend the fashion world and become a true 'artist', even though Shironuri existed long before her, she was the one who really propelled the style with her unique makeup and outfits, both of which really are works of art! One of the things I respect about Minori is that she makes all of her outfits, (or should I call them art pieces??) so she can really express her style. She's fearless, but also sweet and humble.

Anyhow, now you know of the glory that is Minori-sama, let me tell you about our encounter!

The meet with Minori was organised by a UK Lolita group called 'The Tea Party Club' so we all got to sit in a circular formation and talk and eat with Minori. After everyone was settled and eating, we were allowed to approach Minori and talk to her or ask her questions or for autographs and pictures and whatever else we desired - within reason, of course.

I did feel kinda bad for her at first because since food was served first, she was interrupted while eating a number of times and did eventually give up on eating altogether, but even then she still greeted everyone that came up to her with a smile. She also looked really tired because she'd just flown into the country the day before from Bangkok(? - I don't remember exactly where but I saw it on her SNS) but despite her red eyes she was lively and active for the whole event.

Ulzzang Cat Eyeliner (Elongating Version) Tutorial! [Makeup Storyboard!]

We're finally coming off of our hiatus... kinda! Okay, let's not get caught up in technicalities, I know it's been a long time but I come baring gifts!

Since I got into the Ulzzang style (and even more so since we started using pinterest) I've seen so many of these Ulzzang makeup storyboards, but never once have I seen one by a black Ulzzang... so I decided to make one!

I went for something a bit complex but not too hard for the first one to really get a feel of how they're done~ and how, I hope you enjoy it and there's a full strip at the bottom of this post! ^^

GC2B Chest Binders - Tank Binder Review

If you're a cross-player, cross-dresser or genderqueer then you're probably already very familiar with popular chest binder brands like Underworks, T Kingdom and LesLoveBoat, or maybe you prefer the cheaper eBay options? Regardless, you've probably also heard the hype over the GC2B binders that have recently become available, but are they really worth the hype?

Disclaimer: This review was not solicited and contains only my real experiences and opinions.

Morphe 35W Palette || 모르피 35W 팔레트

It's only a couple of weeks left until Autumn, and as ever red-like colours such as burgundy and cranberry are starting to fill the shelves again. However, this year I was feeling something a bit different, so I decided to look around for inspiration for something else I could rock this Autumn.

At first I had no idea what colour I wanted to try this year, so I looked for inspiration on trusty ol' YouTube. One of my favourite youtubers, Jackie Aina, had uploaded a video on the Morphe 35O palette and I instantly fell in love, the colours were gorgeous and I could totally make them work for Autumn too.

Unfortunately though, the palette was sold out everywhere I looked OTL

#THSChallenge 7th Week of Summer: Somewhere Nice You've Been (Travelogue) [WttH #6]

Week 7: Tell us about somewhere nice you've been this summer; you can use words, pictures, both, and you can take us through the entire day with you or just the main events.

I know this blog was technically a week late but I decided to wait because the only event I've been to all summer was on Sunday and there was absolutely no way I'd be able to edit the entire vlog (yes, there's a video) and write the blog post all in one evening! But as they say, better late than never, right?

Anyhow, the event I went to last week was called 'Imagine Your Korea: London Korean Festival' and it was the first ever festival of its kind! It was really nice to see Korean culture being embraced and celebrated in my home country, so there was no way I could miss this event for the world, and I didn't want you guys to miss it either, so I decided to take you with me!

As you can see, it was a really fun packed and exciting day, but in this blog post I'm just going to give you a bit more of a personal perspective, information on some of the performances that happened and of course, some exclusive footage that didn't make it to the video!

[SPAZZ] Introducing The Rating System :: No Need To Feel Shy!

We've been running this blog for a while now and it's recently come to our attention that you guys might be shy! In the past we've scarcely received comments on our blog posts, even by close friends, but when we talk to them in person they actually have something to say.

However, we recently discovered that blogger offers a reaction system, and we thought this would be a great way for you guys to share your opinions while still remaining anonymous if you're shy, so we've implemented this rating system:

At the end of every post you will now find a 'Rate This Post' prompt with two options, 'like' and 'dislike'! We decided to go with these two to mimic YouTube so we can get a clear idea of which posts you guys enjoy or not.

All we need now is for you guys to click them! It's completely anonymous and all we can see is how many people have clicked like or dislike~

Of course, comments are still always welcome too, especially when we ask a question, but even just you hitting the like or dislike option is a great help for us to let us know if you enjoyed our post or not.

We look forward to hearing what you guys think of our posts in future, so be sure to 'like' this post if you think this is a good idea! We'll see you in our next post guys~!

Introducing Our New Blog Series :: 『Talking Trends』

Earlier this year Hanzel wrote a comprehensive post on 'Korean Fashion Trends for Early 2015' and it got a huge reaction from our readers - yes, you guys - and we often get asked to talk about other trends too. Therefore, we thought it'd be a great idea to create a series where you could find out all the information you want to know about almost any trend. Which is why, we're introducing to you, our new blog series:

Each post will be on a new topic (or rather, new trend) that we will go over in complete detail, including information like:
The Origins of the Trend
A Quick Tutorial on How to Pull It Off
Our Personal Tips & Tricks
How to Make the Trend Your Own
Links to Resources & Products
Our Personal Opinions on the Trends
& Much, Much More!

#THSChallenge 5th Week of Summer :: My Summer Foundation Routine

Week 5: Talk about your summer routine! It can be in terms of your work day, what you do at home or on holiday, on even more specific like your cleansing or hair routine.

I was originally going to do my summer skincare routine but it's really only one product different from my usual skincare routine which I've already written about, so I thought it would be better to write about something new I've never mentioned before: my foundation routine!

I personally have oily/combination skin and I feel oily skin can be a real hassle for most in summer since we're usually more oily in the hotter weather. Moreover, dewy skin is trending meaning liquid foundations are really in season too but these can be hard to pull off without looking greasy if you have oily skin.

Therefore I thought it'd be nice to talk about the products I personally use to stay grease free. I'm not going to go too into detail since I plan on doing a video on how to get the dewy skin look, but I'll take you through the structure of my routine and why I use each product.
BB Cream - Maybelline Dream Fresh
£7.99 @ boots
(# Deep Sheer Tint)
After my moisturizer the first step of my routine is BB cream, actually which BB cream you use isn't too important as long as its a no-oil formula, as I mainly use this as a layer to protect my skin from my makeup and give the oil one more layer to go through.

#THSChallenge 4th Week of Summer :: Opinions on a Summer Trend

Week 4: Talk about a trend you're loving (or hating) this summer, it can be fashion related, food and health related, even about your favourite TV series, it's totally up to you!

Being a primarily fashion related blog, of course we're going to talk about our favorite fashion trends, and we've decided we're both going to talk about different trends. Harmony is going to talk about muscle shirts and Hanzel is going to talk about the denim boom. We've had some pretty interesting blog formats for our last few blog posts throughout this blog challenge, so we decided we're just going to take this one easy and keep it short and sweet! We also have something cool to announce at the end of this post so stay tuned!

Get Ready With Me 같이 준비 하자 || My Birthday! 내 생일!

Recently it was my 20th birthday and my best friend, "Bubba" bought me a bunch of new make-up as a gift. Since she came early to help me prepare for the party, I decided to use the new make-up she bought me for the rest of the day. Even though it was my first time using them I felt like my look came out pretty decently, so I decided to do a 'Get Ready With Me' video and share this look with you guys!

This video is also a lot more upbeat and laid back than some of my older ones, so it's definitely worth the watch!

#THSChallenge 3rd Week of Summer :: A List of Summer Related Things You Love

Week 3: Super simple, all you have to do is write a list of things you love that are summer related; you can go into as much or as little detail as you like!

It's finally week 3-- wait what? Only week 3!? It feels like we've been doing this blog challenge forever XD maybe because that last two weeks have been really hectic with Harmony's 20th birthday and our grandmother's 80th birthday as well. Anyhow, this week's challenge is a list of things we love about summer, but we had a hard time thinking up how to make this blog post special after last week's entry, but fortunately we did come up with something!

#THSChallenge 2nd Week of Summer :: Tips For Summer Proofing Your Look [Part 2]

If you haven't read part 1 then we suggest you read that first~!

Took us a while (and a lot of Photoshop/InDesign) but we've finally finished the other two pages of our 'magazine spread' with our tips on how to stay cool while still looking good this summer, so enjoy!

#THSChallenge 2nd Week of Summer :: Tips For Summer Proofing Your Look [Part 1]

Week 2: Tips For Summer Proofing Your Look - Give all your tips and tricks for how you keep yourself cool and looking good during the summer, this isn't just restricted to make-up either, you can branch out to other aspects of fashion or outside fashion all together.

In our last installment of our Summer challenge we told you guys our plans for this summer and one of those was that we wanted to try out different ways of writing and presenting blog posts to you guys; last week we used the medium of poetry, but today we went with something a little closer to home. Since we are all about fashion and lifestyle, we thought, where do people usually read about that stuff? Magazines! So this week's blog post is going to be in magazine article format. This took quite a while to put together but we have to admit we had a LOT of fun doing it.

Actually, last summer Harmony wrote an extensive post on how to summer-proof all the aspects of your make-up look, so this time around, we're going to make it a little more personal by talking about all the things we are actually doing and products we are actually using this summer to look good while still keeping cool. Enjoy~

#THSChallenge 1st Week of Summer :: Your Plans For The Summer

Week 1: Your Plans For The Summer - this is more or less a list of all the things you wanna achieve, places you want to go, and/or things you want to do this summer. You can keep it brief or you can go into as much detail as you want.

It's finally the first installment of our '11 Weeks of Summer' blog challenge~ since this challenge is a new thing we're doing, we also wanted to try out different formats of blog posts to see if there's something you guys like (or something we prefer) to our current style, so in the spirit of trying new things, this week's entry will be........ *drumroll* in haiku! XD

Okay, so it's highly unlikely we're going to start doing all our posts like this, but it was fun as a one off thing, and usually our blog plots are SUPER long, so for contrast, haiku are super short, right?

So without further ado, here's our list of things we want to do/achieve this summer, in the form of haiku! XP

'11 Weeks of Summer' Blog Challenge Introduction

Hey guys! It has been a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiile since we last posted... We know we've kinda left you in the dark for a bit with practically no posts and very few videos, but we're doing our best to put a stop to that so bare with us, okay?

Anyhow, to get us back into the habit of posting regularly, we've decided to embark on a couple of challenges! Some of you would have already seen the 30 Day Fashion Photo Challenge we're doing on our Instagram at the moment and we're planning to do a weekly challenge on our blog too. The posts won't be too long, but it'll be a way to make sure we post regularly while giving us something new to talk about with you guys too.

Top 10 Things We Miss About Korea

As many of you know, our time in Korea has sadly come to an end and we've returned back to our family home in London. But of course, after a whopping 36 weeks - 8 months for those of you not fond of maths - we've obviously gotten used to Korean lifestyle and thus have a list of things we miss.

서울 패션 위크 Seoul Fashion Week F/W 2015 "위국인들의 생각" Interviews!

As many of you know we attended SFW earlier this March and while we were there, as well as taking a bunch of street snaps, Hanzel did some interviews with some of the Korean and foreign fashionista (패피 P'aep'i) that were there, asking them what drew them to event and their big time fashion inspirations~

Now you can know a bit more about Korean Fashion from an insiders prospective! You'll also get a small people at the unique styles and familiar (famous) faces you could see if you attend~ ;P

Welcome To The Haniverse #5 :: So Goodbye, Don't Cry & Smile

We were meant to post this on Wednesday, but seeing as it was April Fool's, it just didn't seem appropriate to post such a serious post on such a joyous day, so we waited until now so that everyone has fully recovered from the festivities. We do apologize that this post was late but it just seemed like the best option.

Recently a lot of our personal posts have been really down-beat and we've done our best to try and bring the mood up but lucky just doesn't seem to be on our side. A lot has happened in the last two weeks and some big changes have been decided, but long story short:

Unfortunately we will be leaving South Korea earlier than expected.

It was a sudden turn of events and it was completely out of our control, but all that's left is for us to make the most of the situation and the time we have left. Anyhow, we'll fill you in a bit more detail on that later on in the post, so for now let's just get the ball rolling...

Talking Trends :: Korean Fashion Trends in Early 2015 [ft. Pae-pi (패피) from Seoul Fashion Week!]

As you probably know, Korea's fashion industry is constantly growing and changing; with lots of influence from foreign designers and kpop stage outfits also leading style changes, sometimes it seems almost impossible to keep up with the constantly changing hot fashion trends. That's why in this post I'll be introducing some of the big fashion trends that have passed over from late 2014 and are currently leading the fashion scene in Korea.

I'm going to go through the major trends from head to toe and hopefully by the end of this post, you'll be on top of all the latest trends and be able to put together your own up-to-date and trendy k-fashion look.

한국 화장품 HAUL | Korean Cosmetics Haul - Etude House, Nature Republic & More!

Whoever said there's a limit to how many cosmetics you need has clearly never walked into a Korean road store, because once you go in, you can never come out empty handed! Here are some of the amazing things I've brought from my favourite stores in Korea~

This video was actually recorded over a month ago so the 'current thoughts' are actually from a month of using each product so you guys have a full impression of how good/bad these products are!

If there's any Korean products/brands (in this video or not) that you'd like me to review, then definitely leave a message!

Welcome to the Haniverse #4: Movies, Magazines & Movements

Hey guuuuuys, it's been a while... ;;;;

We know it's be almost a month since our last installment (even though we promised to update at least every two weeks...) but we've seriously been busy/ill during that time! We've been planning future events and had exams and other school commitments, as well as social commitments too, and while we know that's no excuse, all we can offer now is a sincere apology and this really exciting installment of WttH full of things for you to look forward to!

Also there's going to be some changes made to our WttH schedule to prevent our sudden long disappearing acts, so if you wanna know what those are, keep reading!

(Also a real big thanks to those of you that do read these posts! We were worried that you guys would find these boring but there seems to be a select number who read these every time they come out which we really appreciate!)

For the first change to our WttH we've decided to keep the upload section at the start of the post, since our personal sections differ in length every installment and it can be a pain to scroll through. So without further ado...

Winter Lookbook | HOMME 2014/15

It's a bit overdue, but better late than never, right? Finally I can share my winter lookbook with you guys~ Personally I'm not a big fan of winter because I don't like covering up my coordis with coats and jackets, but this year I worked hard on layering and finding stylish jackets that will both keep me warm and match my extravagant style. But without further ado, below you can read my inspirations, find out how much things cost and a complete shop list.

Top 10 Things We Miss About The UK

We've been living in Korea for 5 months now, so we're just over half way through our limited time in the land of our dreams. However, while we have wanted to come here for sooooo long, there are still things we just can't stop wishing we could have brought along with us. Here's our Top 10 things we miss about the UK.

10. Savory Snacks & Baked Goods

"Why?" You might ask. Well, while Korea might have a wide array of snacks and treats, and literally a million Paris Baguettes dotted all over the country, it would seem Koreans aren't so fond of salt and savory products. Be it your salt-flavoured crisps or your fresh hot dog, you can guarantee that when you bite into it, you'll be hit with the not so faint taste of sugar.

Now, if you like sweet things then Korea is definitely the place for you! But, if you have more of a savory palette and prefer the sweet tingle of salt on the tip of your tongue, then better luck next time. Even the chips at McDonald's aren't as salty as the ones back home.

The irony of the situation is, when Koreans go on trips to the UK, they often come back and complain that our food is too salty and greasy. Just goes to show how valid the sayings 'To each their own' and 'Different strokes for different folks' really are.

Don't get us wrong, there's nothing wrong with a sweet snack every now and then, but there's days when we'd kill for a packet of Ready Salted Walkers or a Greggs' sausage roll.

Welcome to the Haniverse #3 :: Keeping Our Heads Above Water

Long time no see, guys! It's already been two weeks since our last installment, and that's because a LOT has happened during those two weeks; even though we've seemed fairly quiet. But today, we're finally going to fill you in.

Actually, because the 'personal' section of this post is going to be unfortunately, fairly serious, we're going to talk about our uploads first this time around and then get to the knitty-gritty of our illnesses later...

:: Recent & Upcoming Uploads ::

Harmony: In our last WttH post I told you guys that I had some Valentine's themed videos prepared for you guys, but unfortunately due to us being incredibly ill, we were hardly able to blog, talk less film, in the last two weeks, so I wasn't able to do those videos as I announced on our Facebook page. That said, while Valentine's Day has passed, I still intend to record and upload those videos as a 'First Date' theme instead since I really put a lot of effort into planning those videos and would really like to share them with you guys.

While we weren't able to do much, Hanzel had previously recorded our Q&A video made up of all the questions you guys asked during our giveaway event! But not only that, he recorded the entire video in Korean! It was quite the ordeal to record but we had tonnes of fun with it, we'd definitely like to do a video all in Korean again. (Oh my, it'll probably be me next time, won't it...) It was also nice that we got loads of personal questions as well as general ones, it's really sweet to know that you guys want to know more about us personally too.

Our First Q&A + Our First Full Length Korean Video!

So after you guys asked and asked and asked, Hanzel finally decided to take the challenge and shoot our first full Korean video! He decided it'd be easier to go without a script (though I'm sure he's half regretting it now), but he gave it his best shot nonetheless.

There are quite a few mistakes, but it was definitely fun to shoot, and when our Korean has improved a little more, we'll definitely do another video in Korean for you guys!

Anyway, for now, Hanzel answered every single question we got for our giveaway, so if you asked something be sure to check out it!

My Skincare Routine || 나의 피부 관리 루틴 (Updated!!)

Last year summer I told you guys about my everyday skincare routine, but since coming to Korea, a lot of my routine has changed, and in some ways, improved too! As you know South Korea is a mecca of skincare and cosmetic products, so I've had a lot more at my finger tips. So, today I'm giving you a full in-depth explanation of my new routine, my opinions on some products I've tried in Korea, and recommendations on some things I think everyone should be using!

Disclaimer: Since I'm basically OBSESSED with skincare, what I do might seem like a bit 'much' to some people, so I'm definitely not writing this as what I think everyone should be doing, this is just what I do. I'll let you know throughout the post the steps I think are essential and the steps that I use personally.

Welcome to the Haniverse #2 :: Culture, Health & Beauty

What's up, guys? We're back with another installment of Welcome to the Haniverse! If you have no idea what we're on about, then you might want to refer back to last week's WttH post.

This week has definitely been a good one for productivity!
We've managed to upload a videos and a bunch of blog posts, and finish the month with a bang. January seriously came and went faster than expected, but it's all good, we've got some great stuff lined up for February too. Be sure to check out the 'Recent & Upcoming Uploads' section of this post if you're curious.

On a personal note, unfortunately we're still sick and after our trip to the doctor's, it doesn't seem we'll be well any time soon, but we've taken a lot of time out to relax this week (we actually cancelled all of our plans this week.) Tomorrow we'll hopefully be back at the hospital for tests, and the results will be out the following Tuesday, and we'll see how things go from there... But it's not all bad, we had some fun experiences this week too~

Welcome to the Haniverse #1 :: Gangnam, COEXartium & Paper Birds

Hey guys, Hanzel and Harmony here! It's been a while, right? How have you guys been? We know we haven't been active for a while, and we'll explain why in a bit. But while being on hiatus we realized that actually you guys have no way of knowing what's happening when we aren't uploading, and we thought you might be curious.

So, after thinking about it for a while, we've decided to do this blog series called 'Welcome to the Haniverse', which should hopefully give you guys a fun and lighthearted insight into everything we do. It's going to be a combination of:
  • Personal updates (e.g. school, health, travel)
  • Hints to upcoming uploads (so you know what to expect)
  • Recap of recent uploads (so you don't miss a thing)
  • Event info (if we're having an event, e.g. giveaways)
  • Personal opinions on trends and current events
  • A chance to get to know us better (and for us to get to know you!)
Obviously since all this is going to be going into one post, they're going to be quite long, so we've decided to section them off so you can find exactly what you're looking for! We'll also try to release them once a week or once every two weeks depending on how much we have to talk about, and as we said before, we'll do our best to make them interesting, but it'd also be great if you guys would leave comments so we could discuss things and get to know one another!

Anyway, since this is kind of an experiment and it's only the first one, the format could change a bit in future, but please bare with us! If you guys have an suggestions too, we'd love to hear them~ Well, let's get this show on the road! Enjoy!

[Haul] The Beauty of Gangnam Station's Underground Shopping Centre

Gangnam is to Seoul what Oxford Street is to London, the height of money and style. Gangnam is know for being an area where all the people are always good looking and well (read as: expensively) dressed; even a number of idols and celebrities where originally scouted out in Gangnam for their pretty faces. Whether you've been there once or a million times you can feel the difference in atmosphere and the slight pressure to look the part. Well, fortunately, Gangnam Underground Station gives you the opportunity to get the look at much less than extortionate prices before you even step outside!

Personal Update:: A Very Merry Christmas & An Even Better New Year~~

First and foremost, merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! We both hope you had an awesome time wherever you were and what every you did, that you were surrounded by loved ones and that 2015 has been kind to you so far~

While we couldn't be at home for Christmas and our mother's birthday (us being in Korea and all) this year was little different since it's the first time we're spending this time of year away from our family, but that being said, that doesn't mean that spending Christmas and new year's in a different manner wasn't still a fun and memorable experience because it most definitely was.

A Very Merry Christmas, Mostly...

:: We couldn't buy a treat since we'll only be staying until June, so in the spirit of giving, Hanzel made this as a present for our flatmates :') ::
