[Haul] A Week of Findings (Part 2) :: All Things Cute & Tasty

Recently we did a post about some things we bought during our first week in South Korea, and also a review of a product we loved from Nature Republic, a big cosmetics & beauty brand in Korea. This time we’ll be writing part two of our findings!
:: Korean Food ::
For anyone going to Korea, one thing you always look forward to is walking around during the late evening, surrounded by the shining signs and blaring music pouring out of the shops all around, and stopping at a little tent stall to munch on some street food!

Well, let us tell you, Korea does not disappoint! Whether it’s a small local market or a huge shopping district, there are stalls everywhere selling all sorts. Some of our personal favourites so far are Ddeokbokki (떡볶이), Fried Dumplings (금만두) and these yummy chicken skewers - of which the stall owner gave us a free one since we’re Christians. #UnexpectedPerks

Bottom: Samgyeopsal (삼겹살): ₩12,000 (<$12)
Besides street food there’s quite a few traditional dishes that pop up regularly in k-dramas too, and one of those that we’d yet to have was Samgyeopsal. On our second day in Seoul, we went out to get some with a classmate, and following suit with the street food, we were not disappointed. Samgyeopsal is actually a pork dish, which we’re usually not very fond off, but we still managed to get through two portions of the delicious dish. (Actually, just writing about it now is making me hungry…)
:: Random Cute Things ::
Yeah, there’s no other way to classify these… we just had a weakness for cute things, especially if they have cats on them. The first is a random leather purse with no real purpose we just brought it cause… well, cats. We use it as a coin purse now thought. Next to that is a little card case, it has loads of plastic wallets inside so you can keep your student cards, travel cards and bank cards all in one safe place, it also nicely thins out your wallet.

The other thing I (Harmony) got was this weird combination of a hair net and a hair clip; I’ve never seen anything similar in the west nor online so I was intrigued and had to get one. Honestly, when it comes to holding up my heavy wig hair, it wasn’t the most comfortable thing, but it did the job and it’s just so pretty too; I’ll definitely be collecting more of these.
:: Kpop Fan Merch ::
Okay, so some of you are probably rolling your eyes now, but there’s nothing wrong with liking kpop, nor is there anything ‘cool’ about preferring k-indie/R&B/other!

Personally, we like a bunch of different genres including kpop, we’re not a dedicated fan to any groups beside DB5K (who are actually considered artists > idols by native Koreans) but oh man, do we love DB5K! As for f(x), they’re a girl group we like and we love their Pink Tape and Red Light albums.

JYJ - Just Us (+ free poster): ₩19,000 (<$19) / TVXQ! - Surisuri (Spellbound): ₩19,000 (<$19) / f(x) - Pink Tape: ₩16,000 (<$16)
Somewhat disappointingly, as you can see CDs aren’t that much cheaper in Korea like we expected, but at the very least we don’t have to pay double the price in shipping. Also, although CDs aren’t cheap, posters sure are! We got two packs, one of 10 and one of 12 HoMin(TVXQ!) posters and they were only ₩10,000 each, that’s less than $1 per poster! Now we just now a pack of JYJ posters to balance it out and we can plaster our room with their faces hehehehehe…
As you can see, we splashed out - just a bit - during our first week in Korea. These posts were just to let you know how we were getting on in what will be our home for the next year. In future our posts will probably be a lot more focused with the occasional personal update. Look forward to it!
