Welcome to the Haniverse #1 :: Gangnam, COEXartium & Paper Birds

Hey guys, Hanzel and Harmony here! It's been a while, right? How have you guys been? We know we haven't been active for a while, and we'll explain why in a bit. But while being on hiatus we realized that actually you guys have no way of knowing what's happening when we aren't uploading, and we thought you might be curious.

So, after thinking about it for a while, we've decided to do this blog series called 'Welcome to the Haniverse', which should hopefully give you guys a fun and lighthearted insight into everything we do. It's going to be a combination of:
  • Personal updates (e.g. school, health, travel)
  • Hints to upcoming uploads (so you know what to expect)
  • Recap of recent uploads (so you don't miss a thing)
  • Event info (if we're having an event, e.g. giveaways)
  • Personal opinions on trends and current events
  • A chance to get to know us better (and for us to get to know you!)
Obviously since all this is going to be going into one post, they're going to be quite long, so we've decided to section them off so you can find exactly what you're looking for! We'll also try to release them once a week or once every two weeks depending on how much we have to talk about, and as we said before, we'll do our best to make them interesting, but it'd also be great if you guys would leave comments so we could discuss things and get to know one another!

Anyway, since this is kind of an experiment and it's only the first one, the format could change a bit in future, but please bare with us! If you guys have an suggestions too, we'd love to hear them~ Well, let's get this show on the road! Enjoy!

:: Personal ::

Okay, so first things first is an explanation of why we haven't been uploading recently; simple answer: We're sick. Again. OTL

Actually we've never mentioned it in detail before but we have IBS (a stress related stomach disorder) and suspected low blood pressure (which results in us being physically fatigued quite often.) Without going into too much detail, not having energy means we fall behind schedule, which means we get stressed which means our IBS acts up, and from that point on it takes about a week to recover, so during that week we're useless. But then being useless for a week means falling further behind on upload schedules and school work which results in more stress and... well, you see where this is going, right?

All in all, it puts us out of business for a while, so you can see why sometimes we go a week or two at a time without uploading much. Please understand that it's because we can't not because we don't want to... Actually we hate it too, not just being sick, but sometimes we have some really interesting stuff planned for you guys but we miss the timing because we're ill and the idea goes to waste :(

Anyhow, enough of our sob story, let's get onto some of the fun stuff we did this week to de-stress and get us back on our feet! (Well, the stuff that Harmony did, Hanzel pretty much stayed home besides school...)

Harmony: This past Wednesday I headed out to Gangnam to go shopping which I told you about in my last blog post, but before that I visited SM Town's SUM Exhibition @ COEXartium! As you guys have probably noticed, we're total TVXQ(+JYJ) fans, and we're pretty much SM stans too. I'd been to COEX once before to watch Kyuhyun's free promotional live during November but at that time everything was still under construction.

However, on January 14th, SUM was officially opened up to the public!
If anyone knows what SUM actually stands for be sure to let me know,
because my friends and I have no idea XD
I decided not to go on the 14th since we'd just started school and the place would have been crazy packed. That said, there was a mistake in my calculations. I slightly regret not going earlier because most of the TVXQ goods were sold out by the time I went OTL (Not that I'd have been able to afford SM's extortionate prices anyway.) In the end the only thing I purchased was TVXQ's Season's Greeting set, but I might go back and get some more stuff later on. I also took a truck load of picture while I was there too; my friends and I ended up spending a good 4/5 hours there because of it XD

After spending hours in COEX we hopped on the train to go to Super Junior Leeteuk's mother's cafe a few stops over. This was actually my second time being there - the first time we spoke to his mother and saw his sister - but I really love that cafe compared to some of the other celebrities' cafes I'd been too; the atmosphere is really nice and because the cafe is quite big, it's not too crowded so it's a great place to sit and do your homework for an hour or two; it's such a shame it isn't closer or I'd go during exam periods ;;

Gangnam aside, since we got our student finance at the start of this week, a LOT of clothes shopping was done (unfortunately mostly online, so I'll show you when those arrive) but I also did a massive make-up haul! If you follow us (aka me to be honest) on Instagram then you would have seen my picture of all the stuff I bought! Since I wanted to do a haul video, I got up as early as I could each day this week to try out a new look with my new make-up.

Some of these looks were quite new to me since I'd never done anything like them before, but that said I still really enjoyed experimenting!

The last thing I did this week was hanging out with my church friends~

We recently joined this new international church in Shindaebang which is small but very welcoming, and every Saturday we go out as a group and do fun activities in teams so we can all get to know each other better. This week we went to a paper craft cafe called 'Paper Robeen,' located in Hongdae, where you can buy paper art sets and make little paper models in the cafe or at home. My group decided to make penguins and hot air balloons and they came out amazingly!

We actually sat in a different cafe to make our figures since Paper Robeen was too small for all of us, but the cafe we ended up going to actually had a 'wish tree' in it, just like out of the TV shows, where you can write down a wish and put it on the tree. So when we'd finished, we all posted a wish. What would you guys wish for? I'd tell you my wish but then it wouldn't come true would it? ^_~

After that, in order to release my very last bit of stress I met up with an Oppa of mine to go noraebang (karaoke); actually he sings REALLY well so I'd been to noraebang 5 times this week previously just so I could impress him this time round, and I think it's fair to say I did since I got the first 100 all week when I sang Xiah Junsu's Sorry! We have similar taste in music but since my friend studies in a different part of the country we can't meet up often to play together unfortunately, but at least tonight we had a great time!

After noraebang (in Shinchon) we also headed to (back) Hongdae and went into a club to dance the night away. In my experience, aka this time and the one time I'd been before that, Korean clubs are very chilled compared to UK clubs. Most people there are there to have fun, not to try and hook up so it's a much more relaxed environment and I personally find I can dance more at ease not having to worry about looking like an idiot on the dance floor XD I wasn't even 'dressed for the occasion' either but someone still gave me a compliment on their way out, its definitely a much friendlier atmosphere!

Anyway, that's the end of this weeks antics. It was basically a week taken out to de-stress and detox all the negative energy in my body, and fortunately it was successful; now all that's left is to get back on top of the school work from the couple days Hanzel and I missed and then we'll be back at full capacity for the start of February!

Hanzel: Unfortunately I didn't have as fun a week as Harmony, the most 'fun' I had this week was cleaning our flat on my sick day from school... well, I'm feeling better now, that's what matters.

:: Recent & Upcoming Uploads ::

Hanzel: Unfortunately because of our bad condition we haven't released any videos recently, however Harmony did pull together the energy to write about her shopping trip in Gangnam, it's definitely worth a read if you want to know where to get nice cheap fashion; personally I'm really happy with her purchases (I've trained her well! ;P)

Next week you can also be looking forward to the OOTD post she hinted at on Instagram, made up of the clothes that she brought in Gangnam. I'm also hoping to get some new clothes (from our online haul) some time this week so if they come on time I'll also do an OOTD too.

This week we also managed to record two videos despite our condition. We're finally going to be releasing the second part of the Burgundy make-up tutorials! Harmony had been promising that since last year but it was just one thing after the other that stopped her recording. In the end, she decided she didn't care if she was sick and just decided to put a voice-over in instead. I'll be editing that on Tuesday and hopefully it should be up that evening.

She also managed to record her cosmetics haul video, but that won't be going up until after the Q&A video I'll be recording this week, made up of all the questions you guys asked us for the giveaway!

Speaking of the giveaway, for those of you who don't know, the winner of the giveaway has been announced on our Facebook page for about a week now~ We've gotten a few messages asking who it is, but like we always say, if you want answers then our Facebook page is the place to go.

Anyhow, that's all we've got lined up at the moment, so expect two or three videos this week. If I managed to get my hair dyed this week (shout out for whoever correctly guesses which colour I'm getting, leave your guesses in a comment ;P) then I'll also do my second video on getting you hair done in Korea too. We've got some things planned for February already too but we'll let you know about that in our next 'Welcome to the Haniverse' installment.

:: Conclusion ::

Since this is the first blog in the series we're gonna cut this one 'short' but we'd definitely like to know what you guys thing? If it's too long, then leave us suggestions on how you think we could better split it up~ if we see any good ideas then next time we'll give those a try :3

Anyhow, if everything goes to plan then we'll be throwing things at you guys this week so get ready! Thank you for being patient with us all this time, we really appreciate your support!

See you guys next time!! *^o^)/ \(^ ^

//Also, in case you guys missed the pun, 'Han(a)' is also 'one' in Korea, so Haniverse = universe XDD A lame joke we know, but that's our kind of humour, sue us! XD
