:: Commentary & Inspiration ::

I wasn't actually planning on doing an OOTD for this but lots of your guys requested it so why not? XD For those of your who aren't familiar with how I usually dress this probably seems like a regular coord, but for those of you who've seen the copious amounts of black and white that rule my wardrobe, seeing me in a bright orange pullover and contrasting blue jacket probably has your jaw hitting the floor.

As most of you know, my favourite style is MODE-kei which can be done in either b&w or really bold colours, but I always referred to my personal style as 'Monochrome' MODE since, well, I literally only wore Monochrome. However, after my trip of Seoul Fashion Week I was left with a deep impression and also came to the realization that I was limiting my outfits by dressing the way I did. It's most likely because I feel most comfortable in b&w and it's my preferred aesthetic, but I've never hated colours in fashion, I've just never been brave enough to try them myself.

That's why as one of my style resolutions for 2015, since this is the year I'm finally going to focus on building my wardrobe, I decided I'd challenge other forms of MODE, including colours. Actually, across the board there are very few fashionista who do MODE in colour so I was always worried about it dying out, so I hope by me wearing it, it'll encourage others to keep wearing it as well too.

This outfit also has little elements of things I've picked up from MODE wearers in Korea, like the slightly over-sized jacket over the shoulders and the casually reverse snap back contrasting the smart feel to the rest of the outfit. All in all, I'm very pleased with the way my outfit came out and it was well received too so I'm feeling more confident in my chose to expand my horizons a bit.

That said, I still have a way to go, MODE focuses a lot around patterns as well as colours so I think in future I'll be a bit braver in future and go with some eccentric patterns as well as loud clashing colours (like orange and blue.) Overall, I'd give my first attempt at coloured MODE 7 out of 10!
